Okay, so *maybe* I just bought Mass Effect 3 and have been playing it for the first time… great game (much tighter than 1, way less restrictive than 2), and despite knowing how awful (AWFUL-awful) the ending is, I’m enjoying it so far! And both the names “Vindictus” and “Issyria” sound like they were snipped straight from the game… but I digress!
At the behest of the greater Combo Smite community, Ozzie has decided to pull out his Retribution again so that we can get a batrep with the angry elves in it! He’s a trooper.
Also, he really wanted to play Issyria because she came out after he switched over to Legion. So there was that too. Continue reading →
Last weekend we traveled down the road to Hamilton today to compete in the Youngbloods tournament taking place alongside the Southern Ontario Open Master’s tournament as you may have heard about in our last podcast. Apparently this was the largest Warmachine tournament ever held in Canada at 88 participants. Pretty impressive.
We, however were entered in the Youngbloods, which is a smaller scale 35 pt tournament targeted more at newer players, which may not accurately describe us but we are still bad enough that we fit in just fine. It was only 14 players which is significantly less than 88 but still the largest tournament I or any of the Combosmite crew have participated in. Continue reading →
We three hosts of Combo Smite went to Adepticon this past weekend… and we recorded a quick 30 minute podcast after we got back (tired, sore, over-fed and happy!).
(Note the look of extreme concentration on Nick’s face as he extremely concentrates! And the snazzy Combo Smite baseball jerseys we were rockin’!)
You can listen to it here, or on iTunes, as is your leisure…
This week on the podcast we feature a game between my Retribution forces and Gaven’s forces of Circle.
(Marc: Before we get into the podcast, I want to apologize to all the listeners: Nick’s partner had a medical emergency during the last week and so we had to push the recording back… but since we want to stick to Monday releases for the podcast, we were forced to record on Sunday while Nick was still in the hospital attending to her recovery. I’ve managed to get out *most* of the background noise from the hospital, but the audio quality will still be a bit more sporadic than usual. However, I’m extremely grateful for Nick’s dedication for recording anyway, and I hope that you can forgive the audio for this episode! Also, this was supposed to go live at 7am today, but for some reason got pushed back to 11:30… sorry about that, folks!)
This weekend Aaron and I got together to play some practice games in preparation for an upcoming 50 pt Steamroller at the local gaming store The Game Chamber.
We both needed practice getting through all our activations fast enough to play on the clock and we both had lists we needed to test out to see how they worked together on the table. The main idea today was to just play the first couple turns of the game with no pressure about losing because they were just practice games.
This week on the podcast we are reporting on a battle between my Retribution forces and Aaron’s Khador.
Remember that if you listen to us on iTunes, please take a moment to put up a rating, since we are but a small and humble podcast and need listeners like you to help us on our goal of world conquest through WarMachine battle report podcasts!
I told Aaron upfront that I was definitely going to be taking Issyria. I also knew I wanted to try out Destors because of the Issyria challenge thread on the Ret forums. I also had just happened to finish my epic My Little Pony Destors conversion so they were definitely going to be in my list the rest I still had to figure out. I went with: Continue reading →
This week we decided to run a team game for something different. Aaron, Adam, Kassem and Myself participated in the battle. Everyone brought a 25 point list and then we rolled randomly to see who would be paired up.
As always, you can listen to the podcast right here, or on iTunes at your preference. If you feel inclined to give us a rating on iTunes (and help Combo Smite become more widely listened to), that would be awesome and we would be grateful!
