No podcast this week (Nick is starting a new job, and Marc is on Day 9 of “No More Days Off Until Xmas”), but I wanted to take a moment to let everyone know about a few charity events coming up!
Specifically, Artimage (friend of the podcast and frequent nemesis to Marc) is taking donations for his Extra Life charity event: Extra Life Link
The quick notes are that for every $5(CAD) you donate, you get 1 entry into a draw for a painted copy of Blackstone Fortress! I own a copy of the game already, and I gotta tell you, it looks pretty amazing… I painted the models for a buddy, and they’re really cool. I haven’t played the game yet, but the rules look clean, and GW has said they will be supporting the game in the future… I highly recommend getting your hands on a copy if you can, and for $5 you can both support a great cause (the Hamilton, Ontario Children’s Hospital at McMaster University) and get a chance at a great game!
Artimage will be doing a livestream for his gaming and for the drawing on Wednesday (link here), and he’s doing another draw for a few neat prizes in order to drum up some additional interest (link for that here).
Moral of the story, go donate a few bucks, and get a chance at a great game, plus every dollar donated goes straight to the McMaster Children’s Hospital! Win-win.
Nick and I sit down primarily to discuss his tournament results with Crucible Guard (spoilers: Bubba is OP in the current meta), but we end up discussing a few board games, our thoughts on dropping from a tournament, Adepticon… lots of interesting stuff!
This week we discuss a couple tournament list pairings for Darrell (Menoth) and Nick (Crucible Guard). Lists are put below the cut… we also briefly discuss the new CID, Adepticon registration (Marc got in… but not for the WarMachine tournament!), and other hobby-related nonsense.
… well, not really of kings. Just sounded very Lewis Carroll in my head.
Anyway! This post is going up a teensy bit late because SOMEBODY (Marc) forgot to do it in advance. I never claimed to be a smart man, so here we are. This episode gets Darrell, Nick, and I back to discuss the new Retribution Battle Engine (forever known as the Dawnmower), a purchase timeline for Marc to get his Crucible Guard, and many, many other things scattered in there.
All joking aside, Nick apparently has lost the Internet (and all will to live) until Tuesday, so we couldn’t record anything this week. We’ll have plenty of stuff to discuss next week, I suspect, and I’d like to take a moment to thank all the brave Skorne players who are muscling through their CID, trying to balance their Faction. Carry on, my wayward soulstones!
Marc would also like to let everyone know that he wrote over ten thousand words in the last three days on his fourth novel. Progress! It’s still 30k from being finished, but that’s okay!
To everyone else on Earth… happy Monday, I guess? Unless you’re not reading this or listening to this on a Monday, in which case… yeah, moving on.
The Retribution CID released, and we sit down and talk about it! Takes us a bit longer than usual, but it is interesting stuff, give it a listen while eating turkey… or whatever you’re eating, I suppose!
Also, a heads up: Marc is away in a cottage in the middle of nowhere for the next week or so to try and get all his writing done for the year (November and December are extremely, extremely busy months), so can’t say for sure there will be a podcast next week, but we will try!
Nick, Darrell, and I sit down for some post-WTC discussion.
Congrats to all the members of all the Canadian teams for doing us proud, and for the Australians for being the first country to claim two WTC victories! Nicely done, folks.
Now with that spoiled, we can focus on how the various Factions and warcasters did. And we won’t agree about much, except that Cygnar is the worst Faction ever in all time forever.
