After a slow batrep week (which is to say an insanely busy week at work for me, not allowing me the moments needed to sneak in write-ups over my lunch break!), we are back with a bang! And possibly the safest place for a Cygnar warcaster to stand…
That’s right… this week I took my pHaley list out for another spin, this time going spear-to-mace with Darrell’s Protectorate!
This week’s game saw me squaring off against Nick and his Legion again… last week I managed to squeak out a victory against eLylyth (read all about it in Battle Report 041!), but this week Nick came with the most popular Legion warlock on an international-competitive level… eVayl!
Could my humble pHaley list once again prove triumphant over the vile forces of the dragon? Find out, right here, on Combo Smite!
I said this would go up Wednesday… it goes up Friday… which is a little like Wednesday in that they both involve the word “day”! So… better late than never?
So on Saturday, the Combo Smite crew made the field trip down to Hobby Kingdom in Burlington, Ontario. This was my second time in the venue (the last time for my foray into “Hardcore” with Menoth, which was completely enjoyable if somewhat unsuccessful!), but the first time for Nick, Aaron, Darrell, and Kassem. Great venue, tonnes of fun… and a solid 27 players that showed up!
Nick is writing up his own reports from the event, but I do so love writing battle reports, and hopefully my (mis)adventures can help other Cygnar players!
As I’ve mentioned previously, I’m attempting to step up my tournament game. Towards this end, I’ve been playing warcasters that I’ve enjoyed but traditionally have been weaker with… that also happen to be all of Cygnar’s strongest warcasters! And as for Adam… Adam just lost a game, and Adam hates losing.
Gaspy2? He’s a warcaster for WINNERS. But, of course, Haley is not left-handed either…
So I decided it was time to move back towards the warm embrace of Cygnar. Not that I have anything against Menoth… I’ve been having fun, and I still have about 500 points of models that aren’t assembled or painted… but after the last tournament, I realized that I really missed my boys in blue. Time to get ’em back on the table!
I’ve also realized that I’m very, very weak with very strong warcasters… specifically, I’m not very good with either Haley. And that’s tragic. My weakest matchups have always been against Cryx, and the Haleys are probably the strongest anti-Cryx drops in the game… so it was time to change that. Continue reading →
