Podcast 120 – Retribution Discussion!

Sorry for the delay due to my computer/software sucking last week… but your patience has been rewarded!

It’s a doozy, folks. Another 5 hours, talking about all the pointy eared genocidal maniacs. ALL of them. For five consecutive hours!

Do let us know what we got wrong! Menoth is coming up next week! Because, obviously, spending over 10 hours recording and editing a podcast in a week is a totally reasonable thing for me to do! ^_^

(We really are going to try and keep them under 4 hours from now on… this is getting a little ridiculous!)

Tournament Podcast 016 – Nick and Marc's Experiences at the SOO!

Nick and I went to the Southern Ontario Open a few weekends ago, and then recorded a podcast about it! Huzzah!

Southern Ontario Open 006

Listen to learn why you might want to consider playing your lists BEFORE going to a tournament, and see if I’ve managed to learn how to use Siege (answer: yes!).

Todd and Nick also played a game for the podcast this week… I’m hoping we can record that one later and use it later (because more podcasts are always better!), but we didn’t have time before Monday morning. But still, a good podcast!

Battle 004 – Retribution Vs. Cygnar, Rahn vs Siege

In addition to the game that Nick and I reported on for the Podcast this week, we also got in a 2nd game… basically, we finished so quickly that we had the time to set up and try again!

Nick was eager to see if he could iron out the kinks in his Rahn list, and I really wanted to get Siege on the table at least once… so the list selection was very easy.

We rolled for initiative, which Nick won, and I picked the same side of the table as last time for the same reasons (concealment in the zone). We decided to stick with Process of Elimination for the scenario (two 12×6″ zones with an objective that contests in the middle) out of convenience more than anything.

Nick’s list was as follows:

Adeptis Rahn
– Phoenix
Sentinels (max)
– UA
Fane Knight
Stormfall Archers
Mage Hunter Assassin
Eiryss, Angel of Retribution (eEiryss, Eiryss2)
Magister x2
Arcanist

Pitted against this swarm of elven terror were my few… my proud… my Siege list.

Major Markus “Siege” Brisbane
– Stormwall
Reinholdt
Storm Lances (min)
Katherine Laddermore (dragoon)
Rangers
Journeywoman Warcaster

As you can tell, I probably went a little too heavy into the “not a lot of models” side of the equation… but I really, *really* like what the Storm Lances can accomplish with Siege. The main problem is that Siege also really needs a Squire… well, “need” is a strong word. He certainly LIKES a Squire, but there’s simply no room for one in this list.

Podcast 012 – Cygnar vs Retribution, Sloan vs Rahn. Last Practice Before the Tournament!

This week we are still preparing for our FIRST EVER tournament! Well… first ever “real” tournament. I’ve run a couple pseudo-Steamroller tournaments for our group before, but those were always modified rules in one way or the other (soft Deathclock, for example). But no… this will be an actual, real-world Steamroller tournament at an actual, real-world Friendly Local Game Store in London, Ontario.

Nick and I are both equal parts excited and terrified! The format is a 3-list, character unrestricted 35 points; you hand your three lists to your opponent who get to veto one of them, and then you choose your list from the remaining options. More importantly, it’s using 7-minute timed turns (with one 5 minute extension), so we’re both trying to cram in as many practice games as we can to get a better feel for how that will work out.

Podcast 006 – Retribution of Khador Vs. Scyrahian Empire

DSC02458

For this weeks report we, and by we I mean the mildly insane Kassem, decided that we should do a list switch-a-roo: I would make two lists and choose one for him to play and he would do the same for me. I was hesitant at first because I thought that Kassem’s concussion resulting from a recent car accident was affecting him more than the doctors had first diagnosed. I then realized that no, Kassem was merely suggesting it because he is literally incapable of playing this game normally. I actually didn’t really want to play as another faction mostly because I have a hard enough time remember my own factions abilities however I also didn’t want to be disagreeable. Plus when I said no initially Kassem starting bleeding from the ears. Again, his concussion coming into play.

You can listen to the report here… it’ll get on iTunes eventually, but they don’t allow uploading new podcasts between the 21st and 27th, so you’ll have to be a little more patient than normal, with our apologies!
