Time for a bit of a change of pace, folks! Instead of doing a battle report this week, we’d thought it would be informative and useful to talk a bit about the Masters format, and specifically the Active Duty Roster and Specialists that it grants!
Here are the lists we discussed over the course of the podcast, and as always we’re happy to field any feedback about the lists, the specialists, or any suggestions or criticisms you fine folks might have!

*Note: After further thought, I think the Squire is *probably* the right call here. eCaine needs the ability to buy that extra shot in a pinch, and it will be rare that a game will go long enough that Sylys’s Free Upkeep will be worth more than the additional Focus from the Squire. So I recommend the swap.
Nick’s “Retribution Specialists”
Issyria, Sibyl of Dawn
– Phoenix
Arcanist
Fane Knight Issyen
Houseguard Thane
Mage Hunter Assassin x2
Destor Thane
Mage Hunter Strike Force + Officer (max)

There ya go! We didn’t have a chance to talk about Menoth, Khador, or Cryx, but rest assured there are some great ADR lists there too… and in about a month we plan to revisit this concept for a bunch of the Hordes factions!
Let us know what you think! Thanks for listening
While I enjoyed the theory crafting of this podcast, I think the timing was poor. In the past month, you guys gave only released one regular battle report. Theory crafting and tournament break downs are nice but not all the time.
Thanks for the feedback, Umberto! Nick has been struggling recently to get excited about doing battle report podcasts…. you have to remember that we’ve done almost 100 of them in the past 2 years! The way Chain Attack kept up their energy was by creating the “dojo”, which gave the hosts a way to talk about WarMachine outside of just doing more batreps.
Since we plan to keep doing Combo Smite for awhile yet, it’s important to keep up our drive and enthusiasm for the game: this means fewer single batreps all the time, and more WarMachine analysis. Ideally, I’d like to get down to about a 50/50 split (2 batreps, 2 not-batreps), but again, whatever keeps Nick energized and engaged is what it’ll end up being!
Hopefully this is still appealing to our listeners, but if it’s not let us know and we’ll see what we can do! After all, we do this for you guys!
I think we all have plans to be more active on ComboSmite. I know come April I will have a bit more free time and will be posting more regularly.
Yes. Because having a 2nd child *usually* results in a sharp increase in free time…
^_^
Also, don’t you have a police academy to get accepted to or something!? We love having on the podcast, Todd, but you have life goals as well! We all do.
That stated: yes. More you on the ‘cast is definitely a good thing!
Nice rundown! I like ADR a lot, as it gives some of the less played ‘casters some time in the sun. Looking forward to the Hordes version.
That Vyros list looks hilarious. Two Colossals and one smaller colossal. And Vyros definitely covers a lot of their blind spots.
It’s a great list… as good as 2-colossal lists get, at least! And I love pVyros… he terrified me when we first started playing (Nick was so good with him), but he doesn’t get much table time these days, what with Kaelyssa/Ravyn/Issyria/Rahn/eVyros all being so popular.
The Hordes episode is going to be ridiculous. Circle is the most “moderate” of the Factions, and they *still* get some pretty bonkers tools!
FYI: Vlad the Dark Prince is Vlad1 🙂
I do like the Cryx choices though. Solid options
Gah! I always get those wrong… too many “Dark”-things to keep straight! Thanks for the catch!
