This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, but Combo Smite is currently on the back burner for the near future.
Nick and I (Marc) have both taken on a tonne of new responsibilities and work, and sadly the truth of the matter is that we just don’t play much WarMachine any more. I don’t want anyone to use this as a “DOOM AND GLOOM” post: we both think WarMachine is still a lot of fun, and the meta and rules are in as good a place as we can remember them being in. Better, even. But time is finite, and we can only do so much with our limited free time.
To be completely honest, the biggest problem I’ve had is the local meta shifting to Thursday nights when I’m still working, while the Infinity meta in my area has moved to Mondays when I’m available.
Regardless, all of us here at Combo Smite (Todd, Darrell, Nick, Kassem, Jeremy, Steve, and I) still remain hopeful that maybe one day we can get back to doing the podcast on a regular basis. I intend to continue paying the hosting fees for a good while yet, so all the content will still be available (at least until Mk IV, when it would all become totally obsolete, instead of just *mostly* obsolete).
To all of our listeners, friends, and friendly-enemies we have made over the years: thank you for your support, and for being an amazing part of this community.
Hello loyal listeners! Sorry for the lag in this week’s podcast… we had some gremlins in the website that had to be dealt with. HOPEFULLY this is the last time this year we’ll have to deal with that… we had a hacker attack the site a few months back, and Kassem has been diligently trying to fix things ever since. Anyway! On with the show… we talk Skorne this week! Exciting! And if Charles Soong is playing Skorne (and he is right now), then you know they’re interesting! Give it a listen, let us know what ya think!
Nick and I sit down primarily to discuss his tournament results with Crucible Guard (spoilers: Bubba is OP in the current meta), but we end up discussing a few board games, our thoughts on dropping from a tournament, Adepticon… lots of interesting stuff!
This week we discuss a couple tournament list pairings for Darrell (Menoth) and Nick (Crucible Guard). Lists are put below the cut… we also briefly discuss the new CID, Adepticon registration (Marc got in… but not for the WarMachine tournament!), and other hobby-related nonsense.
To everyone else on Earth… happy Monday, I guess? Unless you’re not reading this or listening to this on a Monday, in which case… yeah, moving on.
The Retribution CID released, and we sit down and talk about it! Takes us a bit longer than usual, but it is interesting stuff, give it a listen while eating turkey… or whatever you’re eating, I suppose!
Also, a heads up: Marc is away in a cottage in the middle of nowhere for the next week or so to try and get all his writing done for the year (November and December are extremely, extremely busy months), so can’t say for sure there will be a podcast next week, but we will try!
Hey folks! This week’s podcast isn’t a little late because Marc forgot to upload it last night but because… uhhh… reasons?
We take a look at some of the lists we were running back in the misty origins of 3rd edition, comparing those lists to how we would play the same casters today. We also speak a little bit about theme lists, and Marc’s continued dislike of how they’re handled… but they are what they are, right?
