Another battle report coming your way from the COMBO SMITE crew. This week Darrell (aka Not-Todd) took a break from his Trollbloods and busted out his Protectorate forces to face off against Todd (aka Not-Darrell) and his Retribution in a 50pt battle.
So last week I finally finished my write up for the Adam O Invitational… and we decided to do a podcast on Aaron and Nick’s results!
Come listen to us discuss playing against Bradigus (2 of the 3 hosts had to play Gaven testing out his Bradigus list!), find out how my noble cohosts did, and learn Aaron’s newest ability in real life!
(Marc: Apologies again for the holiday yesterday resulting in the podcast releasing today instead of on Monday! Plenty of content coming out soon to compensate, as our way of saying “Thanks for listening”, and because we love doin’ this stuff!)
I was matched up this week against Gaven and his Circle. Continue reading
It was my turn to be on the podcast this week. We have started doing random pairings in our gaming group lately which I like because it reduces the chance of getting listed. I was matched against Kassem this week. I hope you guys aren’t get too sick of seeing Ret V.s Skorne.
We all brought two 35 pt lists in preparation for the upcoming “Youngbloods” tournament taking place alongside the Southern Ontario Open master’s event. My lists were eVyros and Ossyan. Kassem’s were pMorghoul and Xerxis.
This week I am matched up against Kassem who is playing his Skorne. We both make 2 lists that we were working on for an upcoming tournament…
I brought a Tier 4 eVyros list with Lots of Griffons and Destors and a Ravyn list that I wanted to try out against his Skorne to see how it handled the armour.
Max HG Halberdiers + UA
Max HG Riflemen + UA
Min MHSF + UA
Aiyanna & Holt
The idea behind this list is I get bunch of high-power shots in with Hyperion and CRAs with the Riflemen
His lists were a Xerxis brick list and a Makeda3 list:
Makeda + The Exhalted Court
Max Beast Handlers
Tyrant Commander and Standard
So for the podcast report this week, I figured it was about time to get my friend Ozzie on the air… Ozzie was the first person I ever played WarMachine with out of our local group of friends (Nick, Aaron, Adam, Kassem, and Gaven)… he basically sent me an e-mail on the PP Forums one day saying that he lived and gamed around Kitchener, and would I like to have a game sometime. We set it up, he was a neat guy, and we’ve been playing pretty consistently since then!
Ozzie started out playing Retribution, and has recently switched over to Legion, which works fine by me (I play a LOT of Retribution these days… Nick and Kassem both play him, plus most of the random games I get in these days seem to be against pointy-eared maniacs), since nobody else plays Legion and I need practice against them!
As always, you can listen to the podcast right here, or on iTunes… and you can now download the podcast straight to your own computer for leisurely listening at your… leisure.
This week we are still preparing for our FIRST EVER tournament! Well… first ever “real” tournament. I’ve run a couple pseudo-Steamroller tournaments for our group before, but those were always modified rules in one way or the other (soft Deathclock, for example). But no… this will be an actual, real-world Steamroller tournament at an actual, real-world Friendly Local Game Store in London, Ontario.
Nick and I are both equal parts excited and terrified! The format is a 3-list, character unrestricted 35 points; you hand your three lists to your opponent who get to veto one of them, and then you choose your list from the remaining options. More importantly, it’s using 7-minute timed turns (with one 5 minute extension), so we’re both trying to cram in as many practice games as we can to get a better feel for how that will work out.
This week on the podcast we’re doing something different. Instead of facing off against each other Marc and I went down to the local game store in London Ontario, Game Chamber, and decided we would play some randoms. We are each going to give an abbreviated battle report and then rate our performances.
As always, you can listen to the podcast right here or on iTunes! If you’re listening on iTunes and have a minute to toss a quick review on there for us, we’d all be very grateful… we need a certain minimum number of reviews before they’ll show a score for us, and I’ve already asked my entire extended family to review us, so now it’s down to our actual listener(s)!
First Battle – Retribution Vs. Legion – Ossyan V.s Rhyas.
